Immigrant children can be particularly vulnerable to many different health conditions. In addition, some may struggle to get their basic needs of safe housing, warm clothing and nutritional met. We wanted to provide a list of resources for immigrant families and information how we can best support newcomer students and families

New York State Community Toolkit

This is an all-in-one resource guide for community members, partners, and allies. Find up to date information on Health, immigration policy updates, recent arrivals and asylum seekers, schools and education, and much more. Know Your Rights

This fold-out poster in English, Spanish, and French guides immigrants in New York State on how to avoid immigration scams, protect their families when interacting with ICE, and create a plan for their family in the event of deportation

Immigrants and Upstate New York

This resource is focused for those in the Upstate Region. The tri-fold poster educates immigrants on how to interact with Border Patrol and local law enforcement, and ways to reduce the risk from traffic stops.

Asylum Seeker Resource Poster

This illustrated tri-language poster guides asylum seekers— many of whom have limited English and literacy skills— step-by-step through the difficult process of receiving asylum, and provides information about other resources they can turn to for assistance.

NYS Education Department Resources

Find a variety of resources for immigrant and newcomer students and families including a Civil Rights for Newcomers and Immigrants Video, bilingual education & English as a second language courses, a guide to community-based organizations for immigrants, and much more.

Make the Road New York

Make the Road New York serves the immigrant community of New York with legal and survival services, transformative education, community organizing, and policy innovation. At Make the Road, regardless of immigration status, race, or gender identity, all can find safety, support, and solidarity.

NYC Public Schools InfoHub

Here you can find a wide variety of resources for immigrant families and for school staff on how they can best support their students and loved ones. Information can be found on school-based services such as free breakfast/lunch and school health clinics, protecting the rights of students and families, protocols for non-local law enforcement actions, and more in a variety of different languages.
